Who’s ready to shine in the first Grand Slam of 2017?

ATP – Australian Open

The Big Four are back in the hard court, so online gambling enthusiasts looking for a fantastic start to this sports betting season are certainly off to a thrilling and action-packed two-week tennis!

Melbourne is sizzling hot right now, and the best male players are expected to turn up the heat even more as they look to start the year right and have the first laugh.

Betting odds will favour another display of dominance from last year’s Australian Open finalists Andy Murray (2.50) and Novak Djokovic (2.45), who recently defeated the World no. 1 in the Qatar Open. Murray has a statement to make in the Land Down Under after succumbing to Djokovic in last year’s event, while the latter has something to prove after losing his no. 1 ranking at the year’s end.

However, before thinking of getting their rematch, the two will have to overcome tough challenges from their compatriots who are all hungry to dethrone them.

Both players are on a treacherous road, with Murray potentially meeting the likes of No. 16 Lucas Pouille (101.00), No. 5 Kei Nishikori (21.00) or four-time Champion and No. 17 seed Roger Federer (16.00). Not to mention that there is also a possible clash with 2016 US Open champion Stan Wawrinka (11.00) deep in the tournament.

Wawrinka and Federer, perhaps, are the biggest threats for the Scottish star, with the former having something to brag about after defeating Murray seven times in their 17 meetings.

Federer, meanwhile, has a winning record against the top seed, and his experience should allow him to pose a difficult test. Though, his rustiness due to lack of matches will be a primary concern in the early stages.

Djokovic, on the other hand, is also placed in a challenging quarter as he could face recent Brisbane champion and no. 15 Grigor Dimitrov (36.00) and no. 8 Dominic Thiem (67.00). There is also the possibility of a battle with no. 3 Milos Raonic (16.00) or no. 9 Rafael Nadal (13.00) in the latter part of the competition which could very well ruin his chances of a back-to-back.

Other highly-rated stars including Gael Monfils (101.00), Marin Cilic (41.00), Tomas Berdych (51.00), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (56.00) and Nick Kyrgios (36.00) are also capable of contending for the title, and it won’t be a surprise if they pull off a couple of upsets in the contest.

Chennai titlist Roberto Bautista Agut (151.00) and ASB Classic winner Jack Sock (126.00) as well as #NextGenATP star Alexander Zverev (56.00), are also must-watch players who can turn heads as the first Grand Slam goes underway.

Sure enough, with this year’s contenders, summer in Australia will be hotter than ever!
