RB Leipzig, Schalke 04, Monchengladbach and Dortmund – all top six teams – dropped points over the weekend, so they will be determined to return to winning ways when they play their Week 15 football games.
However, betting odds vary and sports betting pundits predict that it won’t be a walk in the park for these Bundesliga title chasers.
WEEK 15 SATURDAY:
VfB Stuttgart vs Bayer Leverkusen
After staying unbeaten in nine league games, Bayer will surely head into this match in high spirits. Nine-goal man Kevin Volland should also be difficult to stop for mid-table Stuttgart, who haven’t beaten the visitors since 2010.
RB Leipzig vs Mainz 05
Leipzig suffered a 4-0 humbling in the hands of Hoffenheim, so the motivation is there for them to perform and impress. Fortunately, they’ll be playing at home where they are yet to lose a match this season, against a slumping Mainz team coming off two straight defeats. Go for Leipzig -1.50 @ 2.13.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich
Despite their loss to Gladbach the other week, the Bavarians are still a different beast under Jupp Heynckes. They’ll be tested by eighth-placed Frankfurt, but it’s doubtful the Eagles have enough to counter Bundesliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski and the rising Corentin Tolisso.
Hamburger SV vs Wolfsburg
The Wolves took down high-flying Gladbach, and they should be able to use the momentum they got to beat lowly Hamburg and string a pair of wins. Hamburg have always made life hard for Wolfsburg, though it should be different this time with Daniel Didavi in fine form for the visiting outfit.
Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen
It’s a good thing Peter Bosz has Dortmund’s support despite their failure to win their last seven top-flight games. Now, BVB need to turn around their season after dominating at the start.
Fans will doubt Dortmund given their form and the injuries they suffered the last time out, but the hosts have a good shot at ending their slump against the River Islanders that haven’t won on the road this campaign. Although I think this will be close, I still expect Dortmund to have a hot start and overcome a First Half Asian Handicap -0.50 that pays at 1.88.
WEEK 15 SUNDAY:
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Schalke 04
Gladbach’s inability to follow up strong wins with another solid performance is just frustrating to see. Only a point separates them from Schalke; however, the Royal Blues have been far more consistent and have the edge with Guido Burgstaller scorching hot after scoring in their last three matches. If you’re punting, Schalke Asian Handicap +0.25 @ 2.00 should be a good choice.
FC Koln vs SC Freiburg
Following their inspired display against Schalke, Koln are expected to be more confident heading into this fight. The prospect of getting their first full three points also looks bright as they face fellow bottom feeders Freiburg who also don’t have much to boast on the offensive end.
Hannover 96 vs Hoffenheim
If Serge Gnabry can play the same way he did against Leipzig, Hoffenheim can easily win this affair. After all, Hannover are struggling and have only scored three in their last four while conceding ten goals in the process.
WEEK 15 MONDAY:
Augsburg vs Hertha BSC
With Alfred Finnbogason and Michael Gregoritsch playing better than ever, Augsburg should have the edge against the inconsistent capital club. Of course, Vedad Ibisevic and Matthew Leckie will be a threat, but it should be remembered this is still a Hertha team that doesn’t really have defence as their cup of tea.
