First meets second and third plays fourth is the storyline of Germany’s top-flight football games this weekend.
Betting websites and sports betting fans already have their favourites in the Dortmund–Bayern and Leipzig–Hannover matchups; but with the possibility of moving up or down the standings, each team will certainly be motivated to take all the points.
WEEK 11 SATURDAY:
RB Leipzig vs Hannover 96
The first-ever meeting between these two sides is expected to be a thriller. The Bulls will be hard to beat at home given their record, but a confident Hannover outfit will fancy their chances especially after helping dethrone Dortmund from the summit.
Leipzig have more attacking threat at their disposal, but I think Die Roten can keep it close. Go for Hannover Asian Handicap +1.25 @ 1.83.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Werder Bremen
Undefeated in four Bundesliga games, Frankfurt have all the advantage against the winless River Islanders. Bremen, though, will hope to at least share the spoils with the team they fought out some close matches over the years.
SC Freiburg vs Schalke 04
The Royal Blues haven’t failed to score in their last four domestic outings, and they should be able to continue that trend when they face the hapless Freiburg. After all, the home team led the league with the unwanted record of most goals conceded with 20.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Mainz 05
Both teams have split their last five matches equally, so this should be another feisty affair that will likely end in a draw. Gladbach, however, have the slight edge after a dominant display in their victory over last year’s fourth-placer, Hoffenheim.
Augsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen
A five-game unbeaten run and Bayer are back to bite! Heiko Herrlich’s men don’t have that much to worry too against Augsburg who are struggling at home and have only won once in their last five fixtures in the German top flight.
Hamburger SV vs VfB Stuttgart
Playing Hamburg should be the chance for the Swabians to move further away from the relegation zone. Nothing is going right for Hamburg as they remain winless for two months now, and Chadrac Akolo could exploit the hosts’ weak defence to find the back of the net again.
WEEK 11 SUNDAY:
Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored in three of their last four games with Bayern, and he’s undoubtedly ready to fire again for Dortmund despite their latest slump. The Bavarians, meanwhile, have Robert Lewandowski and should feel invincible after three consecutive league victories with Jupp Heynckes at the helm.
I expect an all-out battle between these top sides, but I think Bayern have the momentum to win and beat an Asian Handicap -0.50 @ 2.11.
FC Koln vs Hoffenheim
The Sinsheimers are raring to bounce back following their surprise loss to Gladbach last weekend. FC Koln shouldn’t be much of a challenge for Mark Uth and Co. though as the Billy Goats remain in disarray, figuring out a way to stop their losing skid.
WEEK 11 MONDAY:
VfL Wolfsburg vs Hertha BSC
It’s easy to write off the 14th-placed Wolves in this affair, but looking at how they fought their past few games will certainly make one think if they are that simple to beat. Wolfsburg have drawn their last six matches, four of which were all come-from-behind.
Hertha aren’t in good form too, and I think this one will be difficult for them. If you’re punting, Goals Under 2.25 @ 1.91 should be a solid move.
