Serie A… It’s a Sports Betting Bonanza!

We’re halfway through and the Italian top division is wide open. From top to bottom fantastic battles are raging, which will take us right up to the end of the season.

For Serie A fans it’s going to be a rollercoaster with nails bitten to the core. For online betting players, there’s a fantastic choice as Scudetto, Europa and relegation matters are fiercely contested. At the top, only a point separates Napoli and Juventus, and it’s the Bianconeri which have taken the mantle of favourites, now at betting odds of 1.80, with Napoli at 2.09.

WEEK 21 SUNDAY:

Atalanta vs Napoli

Seventh-placed Atalanta hosts Napoli in the tie of the round, and they will give the leaders a stern test. With four wins in five, in all competitions, the hosts are hard to beat at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia with the impressive Josip Ilicic pulling the strings. Napoli won five in six and are at 2.09 to triumph again, with the hosts at 3.45 and the draw 3.30.

Lazio vs Chievo

Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio have moved into fourth place with eight points from four games, and Ciro Immobile took top spot in the scoring charts with 20. Thirteenth-placed Chievo are in freefall, with just a point from the last four and looking nervously below.

Sampdoria vs Fiorentina

Sampdoria are clinging on to the last Europa place in sixth but have registered a single win in the last six games. This leaves them just two points ahead of the ninth-placed Viola, unbeaten over the same stretch. This could well be a tight game with the draw available at 3.40.

Udinese vs SPAL

There’s plenty at stake when SPAL visits Udinese: the newcomers are fighting for their lives, outside the bottom three on goal difference. The hosts, meanwhile, are heading a group of four teams within touching distance of a Europa place, having plundered five wins and a draw from the last six.

Sassuolo vs Torino

Ten points from five games pulled Sassuolo six points clear of the drop zone, but there’s a lot more work to be done. They start with the visit of Torino, one of the teams on 28 points and  are off of a 3-0 win over Bologna. It’s tough to call with the hosts at 2.60 to win and the visitors at 2.67. Take your pick.

Bologna vs Benevento

You could argue that Bologna are the only team in the league with little to play for, nine points above the drop and adrift of the chasing pack. But there’s a long way to go as heroic Benevento will testify. Having lost their first 14 games, a draw and recent back-to-back wins have given the bottom club hope. Come on Bene!

Hellas Verona vs Crotone

Both teams playing in this drop-zone clash will be hoping that brave Benevento’s revival is snuffed out and that SPAL perishes at Udinese. If so, a win would take either out of the bottom three. But both are on the back of three consecutive losses, so who has the stomach for the fight?

WEEK 21 MONDAY:

Cagliari vs AC Milan

Eleventh-placed Milan make up the group of teams on 28, so what looks like a distinctly underwhelming season could turn out to be Europa qualification if Gennaro Gattuso can get the Rossoneri motoring. Cagliari dropped to 16th after three defeats in four and might be there for the taking.

Inter Milan vs AS Roma

Third-placed Inter’s title challenge has hit the skids, without a win in five and now nine points off the pace. The prolific Mauro Icardi has stuttered too, amidst speculation over a January move, while Roma’s Edin Dzeko could still be a target for Chelsea. Fifth-placed Roma are out of sorts as well, without a win in four.

WEEK 21 TUESDAY:

Juventus vs Genoa

This weekend’s round comes to a close on Monday when the Old Lady entertains Genoa. With the rest of the matches played a day earlier, Max Allegri’s men could find themselves four points behind the leaders. Fourteenth-placed Genoa are three unbeaten to pull six points clear of trouble, but at 2.19 to win with a +1.50 handicap, the task facing them in Turin is huge.
