Torino vs Inter Milan
Inter Milan head to Turin this Sunday as they try to break away from the pack here in Serie A.
The league leaders are on a rampant run given that they are yet to be defeated since early January, and now they are six points clear over the rest of the playing field.
Antonio Conte’s men are licking their chops since they are entering the lighter part of their schedule. And first up will be against Torino, who are languishing right now in the dreaded drop zone.
It is safe to say that I Granata’s campaign this term has not been going to plan. Their early season struggles have put them to where they are right now, and time is not on their side as they try to claw their way out of their predicament.
Their recent Serie A 2021 results have been underwhelming to say the least, and now they look to find some home comfort to try and douse water to Inter’s fiery form.

With 12 matchdays left, Antonio Conte’s men can almost taste it which is why they cannot afford to take their eyes off the prize even for just a second. One can argue that the Scudetto is theirs to lose since they remain head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.
Inter are being spearheaded by the lethal front trio of Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, and Alexis Sanchez as they now boast the best attack in the competition with 63 goals scored.
Romelu Lukaku in particular has been the head of the snake with 22 goals and eight assists and he is one of the favourites to win this year’s Capocannoniere and even for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot.
Not only they are unforgiving at the attack, but they are also relentless at the back since they’ve only conceded 25 goals.
Serie A’s best defense is being marshalled by the towering center-back duo of Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij, while Alessandro Bastoni is doing well as an understudy.
The best thing about their run is that they remained healthy compared to the other teams. That certainly gives them the advantage as they are inching closer to the finish line.
Inter Milan need to maintain their hot form to finally seal the deal. And with other teams scrambling as of the moment, I don’t see any team stopping them anytime soon.
Torino hopeful for a turnaround
Torino look to add more points in their campaign by trying to secure a decent result against the league leaders.
I Granata saw their unbeaten run end when they were defeated by Crotone last week in what was a high-scoring affair.
The biggest reason for their loss was because they were playing without Andrea Belotti, who is their main attacking protagonist.
Belotti was held back due to health and safety protocols, and fortunately he has been cleared to play after returning negative COVID-19 tests.
Torino will be looking to turn around their campaign and they are hopeful that Davide Nicola would steer them back to safety.
Davide Nicola was hired as team manager to replace Marco Giampaolo last January, and so far the club looks more organised under his tutelage.
History
Torino and Inter Milan go way back in the Italian top-flight. All in all, I Granata and the Nerazzurri have met in 153 times prior to Sunday.
Inter Milan hold the major advantage in the head-to-heads with 68 wins, while Torino only won 36 times along with 49 draws.
In the reverse fixture last November, Antonio Conte’s men simply outclassed Torino at home with a 4-2 victory.
Inter’s front three of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and Lautaro Martinez let out a late flurry after the 60th-minute mark to nullify Simone Zaza and Cristian Ansaldi’s goals.
