Serie A: Lazio and Juventus Searching For Their Top Form

Lazio vs Juventus

Two perennial Scudetto contenders in Lazio and Juventus are going face-to-face as Serie A holds its seventh matchday this weekend.

These two teams have yet to find their form so far this 2020/21 campaign, and both are optimistic that they can do so sooner or later as they try to vie for this year’s championship.

Juventus are currently at third with 12 points and are level with fourth-placed Atalanta, while Lazio are still catching up since they are at the 10th spot with only 10 points.

Both were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic at some point, but the recent Serie A 2020 news indicate that they have already moved on.

Cristiano Ronaldo has not missed a beat since his return as he continues to fight against Father Time, while last year’s Golden Boot winner in Ciro Immobile is back to his talismanic ways.

This is sure to bring excitement for SBOTOP football fans everywhere since we will feature two clubs who, not only have a rich history, but are very much capable of producing highlights and goals.

So who will come out this weekend with a W over at the Stadio Olimpico? Read on below for our latest match preview.

Talking Points

Lazio are ready to roll

Despite their roster being decimated by COVID-19, the Biancocelesti got a huge confidence boost just last week.

Simone Inzaghi’s men grabbed their third win for the 2020/21 season against Torino, and they did it in dramatic fashion.

After finding themselves down 3-2 in the 87th minute, Lazio would dig deep and they successfully made their comeback during stoppage time.

Super subs Felipe Calcedo and Ciro Immobile came to the rescue by plundering in two quick goals for the improbable victory.

Although it was a gutsy win on their part, they know within themselves they are not yet satisfied. They are aware that their defence would need to be much better if they’ll have a chance against Torino’s neighbours in Juventus.

In a draw against Zenit recently in the Champions League, Lazio’s roster is still considered depleted since they’ve had only 13 players available.

Team manager Simone Inzaghi is hopeful to have all of his boys back for this upcoming showdown against the Turin giants.

Serie A: Andrea Pirlo has recorded the worst start of a Juventus coach since Andrea Agnelli took over the club in 2010

Juventus rejuvenated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s return

The Bianconeri simply looked lost without Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch, which is why his return was a welcome sight for Andrea Pirlo and co.

Upon returning to the pitch for the first time in over two weeks, the evergreen striker made instant impact by scoring two goals in just a span of 18 minutes to secure the win over Spezia.

His mere presence inspired his team in their recent victory against Ferencvaros in the Champions League as he would create attacking opportunities that led to goals from Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala.

But despite Ronaldo’s heroics, team manager Andrea Pirlo is well aware that Juventus’ depth and unselfishness are what will take them to the top.

“It was important to get results, but obviously we have to improve,” said Pirlo after their win over Ferencvaros.

“I am someone who talks a lot with the players, then they go on the pitch and the choices are theirs. It is important, however, that these choices are right. We need to be less selfish and close games earlier,” he added.

History

The head-to-heads between these two teams have been pretty even in the past few seasons, although the Bianconeri have the overall edge.

Juventus went 14 games unbeaten against Lazio from 2013 to 2017, which includes a 10-game winning streak.

Since then, Lazio have won four of their last eight meetings, which includes back-to-back 3-1 victories over the defending champions last term – who were then managed by Maurizio Sarri.

Betting Tip

??
Lazio vs Juventus Juventus Asian Handicap -0.50 @ 2.00
November 08, 19:30 (GMT+8)

Expect nothing but fireworks and drama as the Serie A 2020 odds see this as a match that will go down to the wire.

Juventus are priced at 2.00 to win, while Lazio are not far behind at 3.40 and chances for a draw are at 3.60 in the 1X2 market.

This match has the potential to produce multiple goals especially with Cristiano Ronaldo and Ciro Immobile present, so placing your wagers on Over 2.50 @ 1.45 or Total Goal 2-3 @ 1.76 are good recommendations too.

You may also fancy going for Total Goals 4-6 @ 2.07 if you plan on swinging for the fences.

With both sides eager to win, the outcome for this game can go either way.

However, I am ultimately picking the Turin giants to win simply because of their superior depth and championship pedigree.
