The battle to avoid the drop is on for the teams in the lower half of the table, and the relegation-threatened squads showed online betting today that they are not yet ready to give up.
Ingolstadt, Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV all played entertaining football games, and they more than thrilled live betting as they stay alive in their pursuit of survival in the German top flight.
Augsburg 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen
The highlight of this week’s curtain raiser was Karim Bellarabi who scored his first Bundesliga goal of the season and the league’s 50,000th goal. However, the man of the match deservingly goes to Chicharito who rediscovered his attacking form and finished with a double – with the first one a brilliant finish from close range in 40 minutes.
Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Wolfsburg
BVB capped the game with three unanswered goals, all thanks to an excellent showing from Lukasz Piszczek who had a hand on all three. The Polish defender led Jeffrey Bruma to put through his own net in the 19th minute before scoring right after the restart and assisting Ousmane Dembele at the hour mark.
Sure enough, Thomas Tuchel will hope for the same display next weekend when they visit Freiburg where they are tipped at Asian Handicap odds -1.00 @ 1.97.
Mainz 05 0-2 Werder Bremen
Alexander Nouri’s Bremen outfit got their first victory in 2017 courtesy of two first-half goals from Serge Gnabry and Thomas Delaney. The two scored eight minutes apart within 24 minutes, and the game was practically over after that as Mainz never threatened with Bremen keeper Felix Wiedwald staying firm protecting the net.
If the River Islanders can maintain this consistency, they should be capable of beating the odds of 1X2 @ 3.45 when they face Wolfsburg for next week’s opener.
Hertha BSC 1-1 Bayern Munich
Robert Lewandowski’s extra-time heroics helped the champions rescue a point in Berlin despite an ugly showing in the early stages. Hertha controlled the game in the first half and were rightfully rewarded with a goal in the 21st minute through Vedad Ibisevic. Nonetheless, Bayern found their rhythm after the break and clawed their way back to share the spoils in 96 minutes.
Hoffenheim 2-0 Darmstadt 98
Darmstadt had a brilliant start and even found some good opportunities to score; nevertheless, they failed to build on the momentum as Hoffenheim pushed them deeper in the bottom of the table. Super-sub Andrej Kramaric didn’t enter until the second, but he grabbed a double – with the first from a Marco Terrazzino no-look pass – to pile more misery on the visitors and lift his team up to fourth.
Eintracht Frankfurt 0-2 Ingolstadt
Ingolstadt remain in the relegation zone, but they were able to cut the deficit to put them closer out of danger. Roman Bregerie scored his first Bundesliga goal and gave the visitors the lead following an aggressive start, and Pascal Gross made it two with a clean finish from the penalty spot. It also didn’t help Frankfurt that David Abraham was sent off in the 34th minute and Jesus Vallejo got injured.
Hamburger SV 2-2 Freiburg
Hamburg could have taken all three points, but Aaron Hunt missed a late penalty and had to settle for a point. Though, Hunt couldn’t be blamed for their failure to make it three wins in a row as Freiburg found a rich vein of form and threatened throughout with Maximilian Philipp and Vincenzo Grifo.
Borussia Monchengladbach 1-2 RB Leipzig
Leipzig narrowed the gap on Bayern to five points as they handed Dieter Hecking his first league loss this year. Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner—determined to bounce back from last week’s upset—scored and assisted each other in both intervals to lead the charge for the Bulls, while Gladbach’s Jannik Vestergaard pulled one back in 81 minutes for some consolation.
Koln 1-1 Schalke 04
Koln held firm and shared the honours at RheinEnergieStadion to avoid what could have been another embarrassment. Schalke was dominant for the most part, with Austria international Alessandro Schopf giving them the lead after only 64 seconds. Guido Burgstaller and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also threatened to score, but they failed to find the back of the net and had to settle for a draw after Anthony Modeste levelled matters with his 17th goal just after the half-hour mark.
