Premier League: Everton and Chelsea Looking to Break Out of Their Slumps

Everton vs Chelsea

Two clubs at the opposite ends of the Premier League table are set to lock horns as Everton will host Chelsea in Goodison Park on Saturday.

Before this upcoming fixture, the home team will first face the league leaders in Liverpool tomorrow in what should be a fascinating derby. The Toffees are currently 17th in the standings with 14 points and they are pulling all the stops to stay out of relegation.

On the other hand, Chelsea have struggled as of late after suffering defeats against West Ham and Manchester City while trying to stay afloat in the UEFA Champions League group stage. They are tied with Valencia with eight points in Group H while they are at the fourth seed in the Premier League table with 26 points.

Both of these squads are looking to break out of their slumps as they continue their journey in the 2019/20 season of the Premier League.

Matches between Everton and Chelsea never fail to thrill SBOBET fans and for sure that will be the case come Saturday.

Talking Points

Everton trying to look at the positives

Marco Silva is probably feeling the pressure right now given the lacklustre play of his wards as of late. They are in danger of sinking to the bottom three as they’ve lost three of their last five matches.

While they’ve managed to draw level against Tottenham, their efforts against Southampton, Norwich, and Leicester have been uninspiring to say the least. And it doesn’t help that they’ll clash with the league leaders in Liverpool before this match.

In their win against Southampton, the Toffees squandered their one-goal lead when Danny Ings drew level at the 50th minute. Good thing for them that they have a guy like Richarlison who could bail them out with his exemplary attacking abilities. He is after all their main man at the front with four goals so far this season.

The Brazilian’s efforts have earned for himself a long-term deal that will keep him at Goodison Park until 2024 in what was one of the rare bright spots for the club. Barring any injuries, Richarlison should continue to provide goals plus some Premier League 2019 highlights for his club.

One more loss would probably spell the end of Marco Silva’s managerial stint at Everton. However, even with that outcome most likely to happen, the Portuguese boss would rather look at the bright side.

“In your life we have to be positive always and look at the reality. If all the time you are thinking that things are going wrong, they become more wrong,” said Silva in a recent interview.

Chelsea awaiting Abraham’s return

Frank Lampard and his crew have been inconsistent as of late and that was shown in their recent Premier League matches against Manchester City and West Ham.

Against Manchester City, the Blues’ defence faltered midway in the first half when Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez scored one each in a span of nine minutes. On the other hand, against West Ham, they were unable to keep Aaron Cresswell to score his only goal of the match.

Christian Pulisic is expected to feature in Chelsea’s Premier League match with Everton
Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic celebrates after scoring against Valencia in Champions League

While Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic have done all they could for Chelsea, they are missing Tammy Abraham who is their top scorer with 10 goals so far this term.

He looks to have recovered from his hip injury sustained in their draw against Valencia, but his fitness levels remain a concern for Frank Lampard. The former club icon indicated, however, that he will give him ‘every opportunity’ to prove his fitness in the next few days.

“We’re giving him every possible chance to be fit. He’s still got some pain in the area of the injury, [but] we’ll make a judgment tomorrow,” said Lampard.

They are expected to still miss the services of Ross Barkley and Antonio Rudiger as both are still not fit to play. However, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic should provide ample support in lieu of their absence.

History

Everton have met Chelsea in 51 matches total where the former won in eight while the latter won in 26 along with 17 draws.

The Blues have yet to win against the Toffees in a Premier League match since October 2017. During those two years, they had two draws and Everton got the better of Chelsea last March with a 2-0 tally.

Betting Tip

??
Everton vs Chelsea Chelsea Asian Handicap -0.25 @ 1.79
December 07, 20:30 (GMT+8)

Our Premier League 2019 odds have Chelsea as the overwhelming favourites at 1.29 while Everton are at 8.25 and a draw at 5.60 in the 1×2 market.

Even if the Toffees have gotten the better of the Blues lately, Frank Lampard’s side should have enough firepower on his lineup to win this one on the road.

A frontline consisting of Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud should do the trick. But should Tammy Abraham return to his dangerous form and fitness levels, that would spell doom on the Toffees’ defence.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
