Premier League Betting is tough at the Bottom!

With only two of the top six in action this weekend there was no lack of drama as the teams struggling for survival fought tooth and nail.

Defeats for Sunderland, Swansea, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth saw their fans nervously looking at betting websites to judge the chances of their team going down. It’s a worrying, worrying time at the bottom of the league with just 12 football games to go.

Meanwhile, at the top, it’s all fun in London as Chelsea and Spurs won well to sit first and second.

Chelsea 3-1 Swansea City

Who’s going to stop Chelsea? After some sublime football Cesc Fabregas dug the ball out of his feet to scramble home; but then the Swans shocked us all when Fernando Llorente headed home seconds before half time. Antonio Conte’s team was unnerved though as Fabregas crashed the crossbar before Pedro and Diego Costa fired home.

Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Stoke City

Harry Kane hit a brilliant first half hat-trick and even set up Dele Alli when he could have had a fourth as Spurs blew Stoke away in a blistering 45 minutes. Mark Hughes sent his team out for the second half with their ears ringing and they obliged with a more organised display.

Everton 2-0 Sunderland

David Moyes’ return to the club where he thrived only served to remind him what a mess his current side is in. The Toffees could have been out of sight by the break but only had Idrissa Gueye’s first league goal to show for it. Romelu Lukaku became Everton’s joint top Premier League scorer of all time with his 60th.

Crystal Palace 1-0 Middlesbrough

This was the six-pointer of the weekend and was never going to be a classic. Patrick van Aanholt’s first goal for Palace was enough to decide it. The Eagles aren’t exactly flying but are out of the bottom three. How long before Boro are in it?

West Bromwich Albion 2-1 Bournemouth

The Cherries started well when Josh King fired home a penalty on five minutes but the lead lasted just five more before Craig Dawson benefitted from a wicked deflection. Then Artur Boric’s dreadful attempt at a punch presented Gareth McCauley with the winner. Eddie Howe’s team is on a slippery slope.

Hull City 1-1 Burnley

The Tigers have emerged from their tough run against the top sides still in the fight, but games against teams like Burnley bring more pressure. The home fans thought they’d won a vital three points when Tom Huddlestone scored from the spot late on, but Michael Keane fired the Clarets level three minutes later.

Watford 1-1 West Ham United

Andre Ayew grabbed a point for the Hammers after Watford had led for most of the game following a third-minute Troy Deeney penalty. But a late Michail Antonio red card didn’t help Slaven Bilic’s mood.
