Premier League: Arsenal and Everton Clash in a Rematch

Arsenal vs Everton

The last time these two met in the Premier League, it ended with a goalless draw which left then-new managers Mikel Arteta and Carlo Ancelotti unimpressed.

Next week, these managers will face off once more as they try to boost their respective Premier League 2020 odds for a Europa League spot.

Looking at the table, Liverpool are already primed to bring home the title, which means that the next few matches will figure out who are the best of the rest.

Manchester City, who have suffered some bad luck recently, are placed second, while Leicester City are third with 50 points. Go down further in the standings and then you’ll see Everton and Arsenal placing 9th and 10th respectively.

Arsenal and Everton have been decent over these past few games as they have yet to be defeated in their last five outings, so either one of these undefeated streaks will have to give.

Before looking ahead of this match on Monday, allow SBOBET to give you some important talking points.

Talking Points

Arteta is the right man for the job

The Gunners have shown massive improvement under Mikel Arteta and they have every right to feel confident for Monday.

A win against Manchester United in early January gave them momentum as they have advanced to the 5th round of the FA Cup and they were able to keep up against a top-five squad Chelsea and they thrashed Newcastle recently.

In the ongoing Europa League, Arteta’s men advanced to the Round of 32 and they are poised to go even further after winning against Olympiacos just last night.

Their top guns in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette have found their form, while Nicolas Pepe, Granit Xhaka, and Mesut Ozil have also played well under Arteta. Overall, Arsenal have been playing with more fire and it’s starting to show in their results.

On paper, Arsenal boast a strong lineup that can produce a bountiful of Premier League 2020 highlights, which is why most fans at the Emirates were probably wondering why Mikel Arteta wasn’t hired earlier.

But with this season looks to be done for, the Gunners will try to salvage as much momentum as they can in order to feel good about themselves as they continue to establish a winning culture.

Arteta is indeed the right man for the job. After all, what better hire to get than a former player from your own club?

“We have a good team, quality players and I am confident that we can always respond to the challenge,” said Arteta in his post-match interview against Olympiacos.

Everton’s youth movement

Carlo Ancelotti signals to his players during Everton’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace

The Toffees have been doing fairly well since Carlo Ancelotti took over late last year. He has guided Everton to five wins, three draws, and only one loss in their Premier League matches.

His experience has been very helpful especially to their youngsters, as the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have formed a dangerous duo that has contributed 24 goals and five assists so far this term.

Ancelotti has also drawn out production from the likes of Bernard, Tom Davies, and Alex Iwobi, who have recorded seven goals and three assists.

In case you haven’t noticed the theme yet, Everton have invested in their youth by giving them ample playing time and a free-flowing system that would allow for them to grow.

Alex Iwobi, in particular, has been one of the key beneficiaries of Ancelotti’s arrival. The Nigerian forward has been flourishing with the role given to him especially after being sidelined for six weeks due to an injured hamstring.

“He is helping us a lot and I am benefitting in training. I feel I am getting better every day with him,” Iwobi said of Ancelotti.

With their youth movement slowly paying dividends, Everton rose to ninth in the standings, and a top-six finish is well within reach.

History

Arsenal are undefeated against Everton since January 1996 (W19, D4). They’ve also scored 327 top-flight goals against Everton – which is more than any other Premier League opponent.

The Toffees have kept clean sheets against Arsenal in their last two encounters, albeit at Goodison Park. On the road, however, they have just kept one clean sheet in their last 32 games at the Emirates.

The Gunners are gunning for their third consecutive league clean sheet for the first time since November 2017.

Betting Tip

??
Arsenal vs Everton Draw @ 3.45
February 24, 00:30(GMT+8)

Looking at the 1×2 market, Arsenal and Everton’s odds of winning are close as they’re placed at 2.04 and 3.45 respectively.

Just like in their previous match, these teams look to be evenly matched and this one shouldn’t be any different.

While before it was a goalless draw, I see them both scoring at least once in this game, making my bet that the match’s tally will end up at 1-1.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
