Granada vs Atletico Madrid
Visitors Atletico Madrid are set to lock horns with the skidding Granada as international club football action resumes this weekend.
It looks like that the law of averages have caught up in our La Liga table, as Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently drawn level with 25 points. Not far behind are the likes of Atletico Madrid and Sevilla who are only trailing by one point from the league leaders.
Real Sociedad holds solo fifth with 23 points, while Athletic Bilbao, Getafe CF, and Granada are holding 20 points each.
Atleti have been doing okay given their recent form as they look to inch closer to the top spot. They’ve managed to score a big victory against Espanyol after drawing level against Alaves and Sevilla.
On the other hand, Granada are still struggling as of late with three straight losses against Getafe CF, Real Sociedad, and Valencia.
For now, SBOBET offers to you some talking points ahead of this match on Sunday.
Talking Points
Granada still on a slump
Granada have crashed back to Earth as they’re on a three-game slump with bad losses against Getafe CF, Real Sociedad, and Valencia.
In those matches, Granada’s defence was porous at best, as they’ve allowed their opponents to score at least two goals. Not only did their defence falter, but their attack has also been suspect as well.
They’ve failed to muster shots on target despite securing the majority of the possession. At the same time, they can’t seem to help themselves in getting bookings from the referees after collecting 10 yellow cards for that span.
Diego Martinez will continue to have his work cut out for him and he may need to draw some inspiration from his key players.
Antonio Puertas has been a pleasant surprise for El Grana. The 27-year-old forward has notched four goals for the team already, which is good for the Top 15.
However, I’m looking at the likes of Yangel Herrera, Alvaro Vadillo, and Roberto Soldado to improve overall. If they can somehow play with more inspiration and improve their fitness levels, the team will get up quickly on its feet to continue their chase for the top-six spot at the table.
Granada still have a long way to go to be considered as one of the La Liga’s elite clubs. But given the way they are going, for sure team manager Diego Martinez will dig deep to pull out his squad out of this rut.
Atletico Madrid still bit by the injury bug
Atletico Madrid have been an exciting team to watch this season, but they are yet to unleash their full potential with no thanks to injuries suffered by their key players. They currently have 24 points in the La Liga table, but it feels like they should’ve gotten a few more.
For starters, Joao Felix has been long sidelined due to an ankle injury. Even if he looks to be healed by now, his fitness levels are still in question despite already working out with the club. It remains to be seen on whether he’ll play right away this weekend. But either way, I do expect some rust from his end.
Their defence will also take a hit with centre-back Stefan Savic injured. The Montenegro native suffered a muscular injury during the last international break and he is expected to be out for some time.
Los Rojiblancos might opt to use Felipe Monteiro and Mario Hermoso at the back, while Angel Correa and Koke should continue to provide quality in the midfield, along with some La Liga 2019 highlights.
Alvaro Morata will be at the forefront of their attack once again, and he is stepping up nicely for Diego Simeone so far.
History
Atletico Madrid have dominated Granada in their head-to-heads, as they’ve won 13 out of their 17 matches along with four draws.
Los Rojiblancos have only lost one of their last 32 La Liga matches against newly-promoted sides (W27, D5).
El Grana have yet to lose back-to-back matches in Los Carmenes this term.
Betting Tip
Granada vs Atletico Madrid | Atletico Madrid Asian Handicap -0.25 @1.66 | |
November 24, 01:30 (GMT+8) |
The La Liga 2019 odds have Atletico Madrid at 1.93, Granada at 4.40, and a draw 3.05 in the 1×2 market, which is expected given Atleti’s overall quality compared to the home team.
Granada will be keen on using their home advantage against an injury-riddled Atletico Madrid. However, Diego Simeone’s brilliance on the sidelines might prove to be the difference in this upcoming matchup.
This should be an intense, low-scoring affair for both sides, and I’m betting on a 1-0 score here in favor of Los Rojiblancos.
