It’s set to be a fantastic weekend for Bundesliga sports betting fans as Bayern Munich play perennial rivals and fellow online gambling heavyweights Borussia Dortmund in another chapter of the storied Der Klassiker.
Indeed, it’s the biggest game of the season in Germany’s top flight. These two played plenty of intense football games over the years; and though their last league meeting ended in a 1-3 win for the Bavarians, it’s expected to be a lot tighter this time with BVB on the rise under Peter Stoger.
Not to mention that a Bayern win, coupled with a Schalke defeat, would see Jupp Heynckes’ men secure the Bundesliga title this Week 28.
WEEK 28 SATURDAY:
VfB Stuttgart vs Hamburger SV
Stuttgart’s exceptional run continues as they stay unbeaten since February. Bottom-club Hamburg need a win to keep their faint hopes of surviving alive, but their offence remains a big problem after scoring just once in their last four—all while conceding nine!
Hannover 96 vs RB Leipzig
Following their win over Bayern (before the international break), Leipzig now visit Hannover looking to build more momentum for their top-three bid. The game with Hannover couldn’t come at a better time for them, though, as the home team lost four straight.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Augsburg
Leverkusen are the heavy favourites to win this matchup, but it remains to be seen what Bayer team will appear at BayArena: the one that beat the likes of Hoffenheim and Frankfurt or the one that bowed down to lowly Koln with two unanswered goals. Mid-table Augsburg have struggled for consistency throughout the season, though they did play a 1-1 draw with Bayer last November.
Hoffenheim vs FC Koln
Eight goals in their last three games had the Sinsheimers confident again. They are still well in contention for the European spots, and a win against Koln will move them closer to sixth place.
The Billy Goats are capable of upsetting the big teams, just like they did against Leipzig and Bayer. However, the superb performances of Andrej Kramaric and Serge Gnabry should put Hoffenheim’s hopes up.
Schalke 04 vs SC Freiburg
With five wins in five, the Royal Blues are unlikely to drop points. Not against a Freiburg side that is at death’s door with 30 points, five ahead of 16th-placed Mainz.
The fact that different players scored for Schalke in their winning streak says a lot about the quality and balance of the second-placed team. Go for Schalke Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 2.03.
WEEK 28 SUNDAY:
Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund
Robert Lewandowski is the man to watch in this big affair. Since switching clubs in 2014, the Poland international has punished his former team in the Der Klassiker with seven goals—he even scored once in their DFP Pokal meeting in December!
Dortmund can’t be written off though, especially with Michy Batshuayi taking over the Batman role in the club. The Belgian striker is already the club’s leading scorer this 2018 with six league goals.
Additionally, BVB are still undefeated since Stoger took over!
I think this one will be close, so picking Dortmund on +1.25 @ 2.09 is the best move.
Hertha BSC vs Wolfsburg
Both Hertha and Wolfsburg are struggling to win games, so fans aren’t expecting much when they clash at the capital. Nonetheless, if this game ends up like their previous battle, then we could be in for a treat!
The first tie at Volkswagen Arena saw six goals and a 3-3 draw, and all signs point to a repeat of that high-scoring game especially considering their tendency to be lenient on the defensive end.
Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Frankfurt’s Sebastien Haller may be on a goal drought, but Kevin Prince Boateng, Lika Jovic and Ante Rebic have stepped up to keep Frankfurt in the running for a Champions League spot. Although Bremen will be a tough opponent, the Eagles are expected come out and play this game with more intent.
WEEK 28 MONDAY:
Mainz 05 vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Mainz need all three points as they eye to move out of danger zone, and playing at home should give them a little bit of advantage. They did play a draw with Gladbach in their first tie, and it should come as good news to them that Dieter Hecking’s men have only one win in eight. With that said, how about a bet on Mainz on 1X2 @ 2.53?
