If you enjoyed the quality of football games the Confederations Cup brought to you, then you better fasten your seatbelts: the games will be a lot more intense at this point!
Some nations are probably out at this point of the competition, but squads playing for pride are bound to bring tight games and exciting betting odds! Get your notes ready and prepare to take notes, because my tips will be a bit of a doozy!
Russia vs Mexico (June 24, 23:00 GMT+8)
The hosts are slight underdogs against El Tri, but the home crowd may will them to a surprising victory. The Mexicans still have the unsavoury taste of New Zealand in their mouth, and Stanislav Cherchesov may try to unnerve them further to his advantage. However, I only see a focused Mexico team that will block out the outside noise and head straight to the next round. My first pick – Mexico -0.25 @ 2.13 – is worthy of a 🌟🌟🌟 punt.
Portugal vs New Zealand (June 24, 23:00 GMT+8)
Ronaldo did well in leading A Selecção to the upper half of the Group A table with his lone goal in Russia. All they have to do is make sure New Zealand do not get under their skin the way they did on the Mexicans. Meanwhile, the All Whites will be hungry to leave their mark in the international stage, and toppling Ronaldo’s Portugal is their best chance.
Their hunger from glory won’t stop Portugal’s goals, however. Portugal -2.25 @ 1.84 is an easy 🌟🌟 bet.
Germany vs Cameroon (June 25, 23:00 GMT+8)
Now that all of the Group B winners are all but decided, it now up to the Germans to finish the task with Cameroon.
Bookies favour the DFB-Elf to win the contest after slapping them with a nice Asian Handicap. While Cameroon are likely to leave Russia with only a participation trophy in hand, Hugo Broos and Benjamin Moukandjo will try everything to spoil the German party.
Their plans still won’t stop a German scoring spree from happening, so my next bet would be a 🌟🌟🌟 punt for Germany -1.50 @ 2.23.
Chile vs Australia (June 25, 23:00 GMT+8)
It was a good fight for the Socceroos despite the disappointing 3-2 loss to Germany. They can still aim for the next round, but odds will tell you just how strong of an opponent they’ve got this time.
Pizzi are likely disappointed at his defence for failing to defend the one-goal lead Alexis Sanchez gave them and will be expecting a tighter guard in front of the goalpost. I doubt the Australians can do anything against the Chileans’ world-class XI, but I’d welcome an upset any day of the week. Punters who’ll take the safe route will be happy with a 🌟🌟 punt on Chile -1.50 @ 2.07.
