Will You Bet Online on the Gold Cup Favourites?

There are more action-packed football games in the Gold Cup this Friday, and fans certainly won’t be bored when Jamaica, Canada, Mexico and Honduras take the centre stage in Arizona for the quarterfinals.

Sure enough, there are a lot to watch out as the four teams fight for the semifinal spots, but all eyes will be on online betting favourites Mexico who are expected to overcome their shaky start and make a return trip to the finals.

Jamaica vs Canada

Looking at how each team scored in the group stage, one can assume that Canada played way better than Jamaica who just managed to get three goals overall. However, that doesn’t really tell the whole story.

Indeed, the Canadians did well in finishing behind Costa Rica in Group A, and in Cyle Larin and 16-year-old phenom Alphonso Davies—who scored three of Canada’s five goals—they have players who can threaten any team.

Jamaica, nonetheless, aren’t a team that will go down easily. They don’t have the scoring power comparable to Canada, but their defence anchored by keeper Andre Blake isn’t something to ignore. After all, they bagged two clean sheets in the qualifying rounds, even holding Mexico to a goalless draw.

It will be a problem for the Reggae Boyz if they played as poorly as they did in their fight with El Salvador, but I don’t think it will be easy for Canada to poke a hole in their defence. With that said, going for Jamaica First Half Draw No Bet @ 2.05 seems the best choice.

Mexico vs Honduras

Following their Confederations Cup stint, Mexico are undoubtedly the favourites to win the Gold Cup; and they have every opportunity to continue their winning run when they meet a Honduras side that just got lucky to reach this stage.

Honduras struggled to score in the group play – in fact, they didn’t score at all – and they just managed to qualify due to “Malouda-gate” which awarded them a 3-0 forfeit victory. Hence, their chances of making it past this round are really slim.

Of course, that’s not to say that it will be an easy game for El Tri, especially after their unimpressive draw with Jamaica and not-so-comfortable 2-0 triumph over Curacao. The young squad also look shaky at times and are clearly struggling without Coach Juan Carlos Osorio who is serving a six-match ban.

I think Mexico’s biggest opponent are themselves. Five different players scored their five goals in the tournament, so they have enough firepower to beat Los Catrachos and overcome a -0.75 Asian Handicap that pays at 1.75. However, they need to gain some stability if they want to make a repeat of their 2015 title bid.
