And Now is it All Over?

There’s still plenty to play for in Serie A – but surely only at the bottom.

That’s because Juventus have just taken a massive step towards a seventh straight Scudetto.

Certainly, a four point gap is far from insurmountable but seems telling with eight matches remaining.

More on that in a moment.

Up and down the country, Easter football games provided plenty of goals and a few sports betting shocks, while live betting offered enough uncertainty on its own.
Especially when lowly Sassuolo led and then held title chasers Napoli and when Lazio had a brief scare from Bennevento.

In the end, however, it mattered little as Lazio crushed the basement battlers, Inter Milan were too strong for Hellas Verona, Torino cruised at Cagliari and SPAL held Genoa for what could be a crucial point.

There were also straightforward victories for Atalanta and Fiorentina, Chievo overturned Sampdoria, while Bologna frustrated Roma.

After Napoli’s slip-up, the main focus was in Turin and it didn’t disappoint as this clash between the current Italian heavyweight and a former heavyweight trying to rediscover past glories found its spark.

The Allianz Stadium was rocking by the end as two late goals gave the Italian champions a barely deserved victory over the Rossoneri – the last team to win the top prize before Juventus embarked on this run of dominance.

First, Juan Cuadrado powered home a header 10 minutes from time and then Sami Khedira, who provided the cross for Cuadrado, fired a match-clinching third.

This was after Milan had been on top for long spells of the contest, even before Juve’s former hero, now Milan skipper Leonard Bonucci, cancelled out Paulo Dybala’s ninth minute opener.

For all the glimmering sparkles of Napoli and Roma in recent years, not since Milan and their city rivals Inter has there been a true heavyweight rival to Juve.

Constantly booed throughout by the home fans, Bonucci’s return provided an added element of excitement as this rivalry threatens to return to its old glory.

A return to some form under Rino Gattuso, their former midfield general who now patrols the dug-out, also meant this game had a bit more about it.

Especially as Gattuso scored the only goal the last time Milan won in Turin and were then managed by now Juve boss Maxi Allegri!

Yet, despite all this; despite Bonucci scoring the first league goal Juventus have conceded in 2018; despite giving the champions a fright on their own turf, one fact remains constant right now.

Italy is still black and white!
