Thanks for the amazing triple-double journey, Russ!

Russell Westbrook, with his record-breaking triple-double run, has kept online betting exciting this season.  Nonetheless, it’s all over for him as Oklahoma City succumbed to Houston in the Game 5 of their NBA Playoffs series.

Sports betting pundits tagged the Thunder-Rockets matchup as a showdown between the two leading MVP candidates; and although it was competitive for the most part, OKC just didn’t have the firepower to extend the series and turn around the betting odds.

So it’s goodbye Russ for now! See you next season!

Oklahoma City Thunder 99-105 Houston Rockets

Westbrook gave it his all. His near triple-double statline of 47 points (on 44.1 percent shooting), 11 rebounds and nine assists showed that. He even played 41 minutes in the game!

However, it was not enough with his teammates failing to step up and provide him with the help he needs. Victor Oladipo and Andre Roberson were particularly inefficient and non-impactful despite playing significant minutes.

Although the Rockets didn’t have a great outing as well with most of their starters struggling to find the bottom of the net, James Harden and sixth-man of the year frontrunner Lou Williams—who combined for 56—were enough to silence the Thunder and send them packing.

Memphis Grizzlies 116-103 San Antonio Spurs

It all came down to the depth of each team – an area where the Spurs are best.

The scoreline suggests that this wasn’t a close one, but the Grizzlies certainly didn’t go down without a fight. Their starters, in fact, went neck and neck with that of the Spurs and outscored them, 73-70.

Nevertheless, San Antonio’s reserve squad was far better than Memphis’, especially with Patty Mills, Manu Ginobili and Pau Gasol sparking the offence off the bench. It also didn’t help the Grizz that the Spurs clicked from deep.

Utah Jazz 96-92 Los Angeles Clippers

Let’s call it the Gobert factor, shall we? (Or the Griffin effect if you are a diehard Clips fan)

The Jazz got back-to-back wins since Rudy Gobert returned, and with his team leading the series 3-2, he has proven that he’s what the Jazz need to contend in the playoffs.

Sure enough, the Clippers are without Blake Griffin which resulted in their lacklustre offensive performance; but Gobert’s defensive presence just blew the Clips away. The French big finished the match with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds along with five steals and two blocks.

Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood was also unstoppable as they led the Jazz’ balanced attack, putting to waste Chris Paul and JJ Redick’s big games.
