Like any overhaul, new groups of players need time to gel, and post-Romelu Lukaku Everton will be no exception.
Stoke were hamstrung by a terrible start last season and can ill afford a repeat with pressure now firmly on Mark Hughes to take the club on an upward trajectory after two years of inconsistency.
Their opening day luck will be out, however, at what was largely a fortress Goodison last term and another 🌟🌟 opening day bet for me is Asian Handicap -1.00 Everton @ 2.35.
Manchester United vs West Ham United (August 13, 23:00 GMT+8)
An intriguing opening weekend contest and, based on form during the 2016-17 campaign, is anything but a home banker.
West Ham won almost as many points on the road as at home then, while United struggled to kill off many visitors to Old Trafford.
Javier Hernandez seems a shrewd signing for the Hammers, as does Marko Arnautovic and Pablo Zabaleta, and the former will receive a heroes welcome at the club where he made his name.
Yet I expect United to make a winning start, especially now they’ve rediscovered the taste for silverware after their League Cup and Europa League double.
