Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan
It’s been a forgettable International Champions Cup summer for Bayern Munich, but they still have a chance to go out with a bang when they meet Inter Milan in Singapore for their final game.
Betting tips have been kind to the Bavarians, thanks to their status as formidable opponents being the German Champions. Nonetheless, they are yet to put up a real and convincing fight, having lost their two football games in China.
Sure enough, betting odds will be on their side again in their match with the Italian side. But they have a lot to do to save face and live up to expectations of their adoring fans, even if this competition is all but a friendly exhibition.
Carlo Ancelotti’s boys appeared out of sorts the last time out, and their 0-4 humiliation at the hands of AC Milan is enough proof of that. Also, Robert Lewandowski – after scoring a ninth-minute goal in their first game with Arsenal – doesn’t look sharp at all, missing a slew of chances that could have made the battle a little bit more exciting.
Adding insult to their loss is that they have newly-acquired James Rodriguez coming off the bench, eventually raising questions on what happened to their usually potent attack.
Of course, that’s not to say that it will happen again. After all, they are up against Luciano Spalletti’s outfit not really known for their defence.
However, the Bavarians still can’t afford to relax and need to recapture their form if they want to keep up with the Inter vanguard headed by strikers Mauro Icardi and Stevan Jovetic.
Bayern can get some boost of confidence from their 4-1 domination of Inter in last year’s ICC in the US. Even so, there’s no telling how much difference a year can make.
Whether or not Bayern can go out with a win depends largely on their resolve. They, themselves, are their greatest enemy here and one more sloppy performance will certainly see them fall to another Milan-based club.
