Exciting duels make sports betting fans happy

The NBA treated online betting fans to a rollercoaster of emotions.

There were games wherein teams like Boston, San Antonio and Golden State pummeled their enemy to submission. There were also games that defied the expectations of betting websites (Brooklyn, Dallas). And then there was the double-overtime classic between LeBron James and Paul George.

Can the NBA get any better than this?

Boston Celtics 110-94 New York Knicks

The NY youth experiment is well under way, whether the fans like it or not. The hosts did well in keeping the Boston lead under 20 points. Boston’s backcourt had a lot of fun playing against the Knicks; Isaiah Thomas scored 19 points in only 23 minutes of play.

Charlotte Hornets 113-101 Oklahoma City Thunder

Russell Westbrook had another triple double to improve his case as the league’s MVP. However, his team is pulling down his chances after collapsing to an 113-101 loss against the Charlotte Hornets. The OKC bench was a non-factor the entire game while Kemba Walker got help from Jeremy Lamb and Frank Kaminsky.

Utah Jazz 103-109 San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs were their indomitable selves and the Jazz could do nothing to stop it. Gordon Hayward and company did everything they could to turn their fortunes around, but the Leonard-led Spurs are just too good to overcome in the West.

Memphis Grizzlies 103-108 Los Angeles Lakers

Injury and exhaustion definitely caught up to the vet-laden Grizzlies, so it is completely understandable why Memphis fielded a thin roster against the Lakers. The Lakers did well in taking the opportunity to snag a W. D’Angelo Russell was the best player among the Purple and Gold, netting a stat line of 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 109-105 Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a near triple-double, but his efforts weren’t enough to bring his Bucks past Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks. Harrison Barnes and Yogi Ferrel joined the German star in draining buckets for Dallas. Crowd favourite J.J. Barea led the bench with his scoring and passing.

Denver Nuggets 116-113 Miami Heat

The Nuggets were the better-tuned squad on the day, but Miami made sure to not allow them a comfortable win. Josh Richardson was a potent shooter from deep, allowing Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside with loads of space to operate on. Unfortunately for them, Emmanuel Mudiay and Wilson Chandler came up big off the bench to help Danilo Gallinari and Nikola Jokic for the W.

Chicago Bulls 117-110 New Orleans Pelicans

DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis had monster games for the Pelicans but still came up short against the Chicago bulls. Jimmy Butler did most of the heavy lifting, scoring 39 points and snagging six 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bobby Portis was Chicago’s X-factor from the bench: the former Razorback got 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulls.

Atlanta Hawks 82-91 Brooklyn Nets

The surprising result gave the Brooklyn faithful a bitter taste of what their team is capable of. Jeremy Lin and Brook Lopez had a ball against the Hawks. While the starting unit did reasonably well, their bench collapsed against Brooklyn’s.

Indiana Pacers 130-135 Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James and Paul George traded blows in what was probably the biggest game of the night. Both rosters stepped up to make the game as entertaining as it was. James ended the night with a triple-double while George was a rebound and assist away from a triple-double of his own. This game adds to the lore that is the rivalry between Cleveland’s No23 and Indiana’s No13.

Philadelphia 76ers 105-113 Toronto Raptors

There wasn’t really any doubt that the Toronto Raptors would win the game. What raises my eyebrow is this little nugget: the Sixers managed to keep Toronto’s lead under five points until the midway point of the second half. They also managed to cut a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter to three points. Brett Brown and his young players should be applauded.

Washington Wizards 115-139 Golden State Warriors

The Oracle Arena was expecting a great win and that’s what Golden State provided. Stephen Curry went off, scoring 42 points to squash any hopes of a comeback for John Wall’s Wizards. Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Shaun Livingston chipped in with double-digit points of their own.

Houston Rockets 123-116 Phoenix Suns

The Rockets were without their captain when they travelled to Phoenix. That could have been a dangerous proposition, given how lethal Devin Booker has been for the Suns. Eric Gordon and Patrick Beverley made sure that the Rockets will stay efficient despite Harden’s absence. They convincingly won the game.
